A clubhouse terrace is doing more work than most clubs give it credit for. It's where members end the round, where guests form their impression of the club, and where events either feel special or feel like an afterthought. It is also the part of the estate that takes the most punishment, sitting outdoors through every season while being expected to look presentable on demand.

Kings Norton Golf Club in the West Midlands set out to make more of theirs. The result is a new outdoor dining area built to be used heavily and maintained lightly.

What was installed

Working under our Luar Outdoor Furniture brand, we supplied and installed 10 Bollington dining tables, 56 Bollington dining chairs and four matching Luxewood® planter boxes.

The scale matters here. This isn't a handful of tables placed hopefully near a door; it's a properly configured dining area capable of seating a full complement of members and guests at once, which means the terrace can host club events rather than simply overflow from the bar.

The planters do quiet but important work. They break up what would otherwise be an expanse of tables, add colour and softness against the clean lines of the Bollington range, and give the space a sense of being designed rather than furnished.

Why the club chose Luxewood®

Golf clubs need outdoor furniture that looks the part and survives years of constant use in the British climate. Those two requirements pull against each other with traditional materials, which is the problem Luxewood® was developed to solve.

Manufactured exclusively by Pinseeker from recycled HDPE, Luxewood® will not rot or decay, split or crack, or warp through moisture absorption. It isn't troubled by insects or fungal attack. And because the colour runs through the material rather than sitting on top of it, there is no painting, staining or varnishing to schedule.

For a club, that removes an entire recurring line from the maintenance calendar. Hardwood and softwood furniture both carry an ongoing cost that rarely appears in the original purchase decision, in staff time as much as materials, and it accumulates every year the furniture stays in service.

Built for commercial use

The Bollington collection pairs contemporary styling with the durability commercial settings demand, which is why it suits hotels, hospitality venues, schools and public spaces as readily as golf clubs.

Key benefits include:

  • Virtually maintenance-free ownership
  • Exceptional weather resistance in all seasons
  • UV stabilised to resist fading
  • Moisture resistant and non-porous
  • Will not splinter, making it comfortable and safe to use
  • Easy to clean with minimal maintenance
  • Heavy-duty construction designed for commercial environments
  • Manufactured using recycled materials, supporting sustainability initiatives

The splinter point deserves a moment. On a terrace used by families and by members in golf trousers rather than workwear, it is the difference between furniture people settle into and furniture they perch on.

The space it created

The installation has turned the Kings Norton clubhouse terrace into a genuine social hub, with panoramic views over the course and enough capacity to matter.

That flexibility is where the value sits. The same space now serves golfers coming off the 18th, club events through the season, and visitors who simply want somewhere pleasant to sit. A terrace that can do all three is an asset.

Designed and manufactured in Britain

Every piece of Luar Outdoor Furniture is made by Pinseeker using our own Luxewood® material, combining British manufacturing with a material designed for a long working life outdoors.

It's an approach built around investing once rather than repeatedly, and it's the reason our furniture turns up in driving ranges, hotels, parks, schools and visitor attractions as well as on golf courses.
